Welcome back to my Project Wedding series where I've highlighted aspects of Carla and David's country, rustic wedding. Today I'm bringing you the decor, much of which we did ourselves.

The centerpieces were just too cute, but were really easy to make. Carla and I went tromping through the woods behind her parents' house to find trees that were just right for the wood slices. We found the perfect size tree, and her dad cut it into rings with a chainsaw. Note: use a fallen tree if you can, because a younger, live tree has to dry out. After drying out, these wood slices cracked a bit, but they were still usable. We also cut up a smaller tree for the C+D hearts. I originally used a wood burner to burn the image into the wood, but it didn't look very good. I then went over it with a brown paint marker. Sometimes, simple is better.

We also used tin cans with burlap, lace ribbon, and jute to hold baby's breath and roses. Floating candles in mason jars completed the centerpieces.

Other flower arrangements were done using tin cans, burlap, lace ribbon, and jute twine. Mason jars hung from shepherd's hooks also held baby's breath.

The wreathes were one of my favorite projects. I made flowers out of tan and ivory fabric which I glued to vine wreaths. I then painted Carla and David's monogram onto a wood shape I found at Michaels with a brown paint marker. I lightly brushed brown paint over the monogram to give the wood an aged look.

I also made a few chalkboards for the occasion using the same technique I had for my faux chalkboard art. I absolutely love the "Our Love Story" chalkboard, which as Carla's idea. I just made it happen. I also painted some of the wood slices with chalkboard paint which we used for food labels.

A plain chalkboard was used for the beverages. Carla ordered very simple but cute koozies for the beer and put them in a rustic basket.

Carla and David wanted to honor David's father who had passed away. A table with a lantern lit for him was a special way to remember him on this occasion.
