I've been working hard on new and creative ideas for my booth at Prattville Pickers. I recently made a few faux chalkboards with Bible verses written in chalkboard lettering.
I say they are "faux," because they aren't really chalkboards. I just painted and distressed picture frames, cut thin sheets of wood to fit into the picture frame, and painted the wood sheets black. I then glued the wood sheets into the picture frames. I drew the verses in pencil, then went over the pencil with a white paint marker.
I was so excited when all of the chalkboards I made sold pretty quickly. I even had a few requests for custom items. It is awesome to know that people appreciate my art, but it's even greater to know that people love the message in the art.
I hope you've enjoyed a peek at one of my new projects! Hopefully there will be more to come!

DeleteThese are awesome! What kind of paint, cuz it covers over the black really well!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I used a DecoColor white paint marker, but I think any paint marker would do.
DeleteAww. Love it. Can I have one?!!! I have one verse that is repeated over and over in my house. I would just enjoy having your art with my verse on it.

I'm only selling them in my flea market booth right now. I would love sell them on Etsy, but I just don't have the time right now. I hope to one day though!
DeleteThese are fantastic! I love chalkboard art but it's so temporary. I think this looks just as good and will last!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Chalkboards are so popular right now, so I thought this would be a great way use that in a more permanent way.
DeleteWhat a great idea! I'd like to invite you to share them at my Twirl & Take a Bow linky party at www.houseontheway.com.
